These works explore the possibility of adapting a collage aesthetic for the computer. The act of selecting and moving imagery gives the illusion of moving real objects in space. Image manipulation becomes a virtual equivalent to moving things by hand. It is no accident that basic commands such as cut, paste and erase refer to real world acts. Layering, scanning, cloning and negative imaging are all used in the construction of these images. Gradually the object-image assumes a new identity through processes of displacement and juxtaposition.
